Tembeka Ngcukaitobi is a South African lawyer, public speaker, author and political activist. He recently authored the book “The Land is Ours: South Africa’s First Black Lawyers and the Birth of the Constitution”. His next book to be published in 2020 is “The Trial of Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe: An Epic and a Tragedy”. Tembeka served as an Acting Judge on both the Labour Court and the Land Claims Court of South Africa. He has been an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Nelson Mandela University, a researcher at the University of Johannesburg and is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the University of the Witwatersrand. Tembeka was appointed as Commissioner at the South African Law Reform Commission by President Thabo Mbeki and more recently he has served as an Inaugural Executive Committee Member of the Council for Advancement of the South African Constitution. Tembeka is a founder member of the Pan African Bar Association of South Africa and he served as a trustee of the Constitutional Court Trust.
